AUTOSAR for Automotive Embedded System

AUTOSAR (Automotive Open System Architecture) is a worldwide development partnership of automotive interested parties founded way back in 2003. Autosar architecture specifies a standard interface between application software and basic vehicle functions. Layered architecture describes a top-down approach to the hierarchical structure of AUTOSAR software and maps the Basic Software Modules to software layers and shows their relationship. The AUTOSAR Architecture distinguishes on the topmost abstraction level between three software layers:
New functionalities such as driver perception, autonomous driving, connectivity, and Car as a Service (CaaS), have introduced a new set of challenges to the electrical/electronic (E/E) architecture. There challenges are highly complex and have high computing demands for better performance and predictability. High complexity, high computing power, faster communications, and continuous updates are, to name a few, the requirements set into stone by these new trends. The technology which enables the new functionalities is already here: ethernet and HPC.
Adaptive AUTOSAR is a new standard made to cover the new demands and address complex challenges to integrate service oriented architecture. It provides functional clusters that have at least one instance per (virtual) machine while services may be distributed in the in-car network.
In comparison to the AUTOSAR Classic Platform the AUTOSAR Runtime Environment for the Adaptive Platform dynamically links services and clients during runtime.
